Source Control

Source Control minimizes potential contaminants that enter the sewer at the source. That source can be a restaurant, donut shop, dry cleaner, photo processor or a similar type of business. By controlling pollutants at the source, before entering the sewer system, we can do a better job of treating wastewater and protecting the environment. That is the goal of our Environmental Compliances Inspectors.

Our Environmental Compliance Inspectors work with food service establishments, such as restaurants and donut shops to inspect for proper fats, oils and grease disposal and also review their housekeeping methods, maintenance logs, cleaning manifests, and explain that no enzymes, degreasers or bacteria eaters should be used. This defines our FOG Program (Fats, Oils and Grease) and can go a long way in preventing a clogged sewer system by removing FOG at the source.

Our Environmental Compliance Inspectors will also work with a business, such as a hospital, dental office, medical office, laundromat, winery, dry cleaner, printing shop, photo processor, auto related industry, etc., to help them understand the Pretreatment Program. "Pre-treating" is the process of removing potential contaminants from the wastewater that may have been added during manufacturing or some other procedure, before going in to the sewer system.
